Statuses, limits & rules

A quick lookup for the fixed values and limits across Whelpkeep.

Pup status

• Available — not reserved or sold.
• Reserved — a buyer is lined up (often after a deposit).
• Sold — sold and accounted for.
• Kept — you're keeping this pup.

Sold and Kept are "finished" states for the litter.

Buyer stage

• Enquiry — interested, no deposit yet.
• Deposit paid — a deposit has been paid.
• Handover — at or past collection.

Litter status (worked out for you)

• Expecting — no whelp date yet.
• Active — whelped, pups still with you.
• Complete — whelped and every pup is finished (gone home, kept or sale closed).

Sale tracks

• Financial: no deposit → deposit paid → paid in full.
• Contract: none → drafting → pending signature → signed.
• Microchip: chip pending → transfer lodged → chip transferred.

File uploads

• Accepted types: JPG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, PDF.
• Size: up to the per-file size limit (25 MB).
• PDF pages: under the page limit (30 pages) for the document reader.
• Empty (0-byte) files and files that aren't really the type they claim are rejected.

Key dates & deadlines

• Go-home (minimum sale age): whelp date + 8 weeks. Pups can't be set to leave earlier.
• Microchip: in NSW, by 12 weeks of age.
• First vaccination: by the go-home date.

These vary by state — Whelpkeep applies the right ones for the litter's state and warns rather than blocks.

State caps Whelpkeep watches

• NSW: a lifetime cap of 5 litters per dam; a vet certificate required after 2 caesareans, and limits beyond that; a cap on the number of breeding females. Whelpkeep counts your in-app litters plus the pre-Whelpkeep baseline you entered.
• VIC: a 5-litter consideration and the club-membership question that affects whether the code binds you.
• QLD / SA: annual ID renewals tracked from your expiry dates.

Whelpkeep flags when you approach or pass a cap; it never stops you saving. Always confirm the current rules with your state regulator — see the Rules pages.
