Sell a pup: contract & handover

Set the purchase price, draft and send the contract for online signature, track the microchip transfer, and download the handover pack in Whelpkeep.

Selling a pup runs through one place: the pup's sale. You set the price, draft the contract, send it for signature, track the microchip transfer and hand over — all in order.

Before you start

Assign a buyer to the pup first (see Manage your waitlist & buyers). Taking a deposit beforehand is usual but not required.

Set the price

  1. Open the pup and go to its sale.
  2. Enter the purchase price.

The balance calculates automatically: the price minus deposits paid.

Draft and send the contract

  1. In the sale, draft the contract. Whelpkeep fills in the parties, the pup, the price, your ID and compliance details, and the state-correct legal wording — including the NSW cooling-off and refund clauses where they apply.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Click Send for signature.

The buyer signs online on their puppy page — typed or drawn. The contract then shows Signed, with a full audit trail: who signed, when, their IP address and the method.

Note — The legal wording is chosen to match the litter's state. You don't pick the clauses; Whelpkeep applies the right ones.

Tip — Got your own house terms? Edit the contract, then click Save as my default and every new contract starts from your wording with each pup's details filled in. The compliance and consumer-law part is still added for you. See Use your own contract wording.

Track the microchip transfer

The sale has a microchip transfer track that moves through three stages:

  1. Chip pending
  2. Transfer lodged
  3. Chip transferred

Update it as you lodge and complete the transfer with your registry.

Hand over

At handover, open the handover summary and download the evidence pack for your records.
